time to review

Radu B. Rusu
Administrator
Hi all,

We're beginning our DOC review process of PCL today. We have 1 week to do that, as the deadline is next Wed.

What does the DOC review process involve?

  1) wiki documentation (basically going through all the docs at www.ros.org/wiki/perception_pcl and
www.ros.org/wiki/perception_pcl_addons, pointing out what's missing, and adding it where appropriate

  2) code API documentation. At this point we're doing http://www.ros.org/doc/api/pcl/html/. We need to go over all
routines and make sure there's documentation for them.

We're not looking at changing the API at this point, though _MINOR_ changes are welcome.

I encourage as many of you as possible to participate, as this will most probably be how PCL 1.x series will look like.
Once Diamondback goes out in mid-February, we will freeze PCL and start working on PCL 2.x, as discussed here:
http://pcl.ros.org/Roadmap

You can find most of us on IRC (server: irc.oftc.net), channel #pcl. If you have time to join the discussions, we will
wrap this up in no time, as live discussions are much more productive than e-mails or wiki page edits.

Thanks,
Radu.

I forgot to mention: for those that like to help with the review the ROS way, please see

http://www.ros.org/wiki/pcl/Reviews/2011-01%20Diamondback%20Doc%20Review_Doc_Review

and start adding comments there.

For everyone else, #pcl and/or e-mail should be ok :)

Cheers,
Radu.
