pcl_tutorials

Nicholas Butko
Radu,

Now that I have pcl & friends compiled on OSX, I want to check if things are working by running some simple programs, and hopefully seeing pretty, or impressive, output.

I tried to run a few pcl_tutorials, but nothing seems to happen. Presumably, they are waiting for some data stream, or something.

Is there a set of tutorial nodes that I should run to make sure everything is working? Is there a set of tutorial nodes that I can run to see pretty, or impressive, output?

Nick,

Good point. We need to work on some flashier demos. The current iteration of the tutorials do not include visualization
because the pcl visualization modules were developed after that.

What sort of tutorials/demos would you consider compelling ? Let's make a list and then see who's willing to work on what.

Cheers,
Radu.

Re: pcl_tutorials

For example, read in a saved point cloud of a scene, display the scene and inferred information about it.

You could have several saved point clouds for different applications, e.g. object recognition, action recognition, mapping.

It looks like you have a whole lot of tutorials, and each is probably good for something cool or important. It would be nice if, running them, I could immediately see what they were good for. Even a readme would be helpful.

Nick, good point.

We need to start a series of tutorials like that. I'm waiting for the new page to come up first. We should start a
wishlist somewhere on the wiki, and slowly work towards making it happen.

Cheers,
Radu.
