pcl::tracker tutorial or example code

james
Administrator
Hi,

I am in the beginning stages of my final year thesis, which will include (hopefully multi-) object tracking for human-robot interaction. I see that there is a new tracking library added to PCL, which looks very useful, on top of all the existing code. I have also found the existing tutorials and examples helpful, but I was wondering if there is any available tutorial or example working code specifically for this tracking library?
The real-time videos look very promising!

Thanks very much!

There is no tutorial at the moment, but there is a fully fledged app you can run from trunk (openni_tracking). Leo can
probably provide more information about how to run it, in case you get stuck. We will be working on tutorials and better
documentation, as well as optimizations for the tracking (and different motion models).

Any feedback would be very welcome! The tracking library is fairly young and not all corners have been smoothed out
completely yet :)

Cheers,
Radu.

Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction. I just have a simple question that maybe someone can help me with: how should I go about setting the reference cloud to track?

Thanks,
James

I have since read that openni_tracker does not require a pcd file for a cloud reference, and it simply segments the input for tracking, but when I am running the program under windows 7 (debug build), I am receiving the following error (screenshot error)

I have succeeded in running the program. In case it helps anyone, I achieved this by removing all references to "device_id" and removing all console argument features.
Now I can proceed in working with the actual tracking =]
