kinfu is not real time (seems no response). Any developer can fix the problem?

wguo
This post was updated on .
I run the kinfu program now,but the 3d viewer seems no response after getting a first snapshot ,let alone real time while  I move the kinect slowly .  Although the console reports nearly  20 fps.
The following is the first snapshot of 3d reconstruction:

My PC machine has the following configure: E3-1230 CPU, GTX560 Ti, 8G memory, windows7(32bit)。
Why Kinfu so much slowly?
I use only 1 GTX 560 ti GPU which also be used for monitor. Do I need two GPU,one for kinfu and the other for 3D viewer ?

Re: kinfu is not real time?

Christian Potthast
Your graphics card might be a little to slow to handle real time performance.

I have a Geforce GTX 470 (448 Cuda corse) and I get consistently ~30fps

I have a GeForce GTX 560 TI and I can get about 32fps. So, it works for me.

20+ fps is almost real-time.
The problem is, even the console reports nearly ~40fps, the reconstruction result is still updating very slow.

My PC seems fast enough. I didn't run any other program, just kinfu.
I just got the first 3D snapshot and the result remains unchanged (no update) while I move slowly the kinect.
Yes, the  reconstruction result seems no update  when I move the kinect. The 3D viewing windows remains unchanged all the time.
I don't what's the problem?

This might be caused by some recent changes that we introduced in the ImageViewer in trunk. I'll try taking a look at
this tomorrow. Thanks for reporting.

I seems you are using the debug version?

Try use the release version instead, so a lot of optimization has been done.

This post was updated on .
Although I build the kinfu_app in debug mode, but I run it without debug.  Now,I build release version and run it,but no improvement. The "3d view from ray tracing" window remains no response while I move the kinect slowly.

Is the Kinfu realtime in trunk(r5421)? Should I download the trunk (r5421) not the head trunk?
I am afraid the trunk(r5421) may have some problems with compile such as with curved quotes in my computer like before: Help me to compile PCL! There are always compile error!

I hope the head trunk is fixed too. Can I use the kinfu_app in trunk(r5421) to replace the kinfu_app in head trunk?

Thanks.

you can just try it and report any problems if necessary :)

For trunk 5421,there are 41 failed when compile the "ALL-Build", some bug are same as I said before, such as:
2>F:\softwares\PCL\trunk(5421)\visualization\src\pcl_visualizer.cpp(405): error C2719: 'qx': formal parameter with __declspec(align('16')) won't be aligned
2>
2>Build FAILED.
..........

16>------ Build started: Project: pcl_openni_organized_multi_plane_segmentation, Configuration: Debug Win32 ------
13>InitializeBuildStatus:
9>ManifestResourceCompile:
12>ManifestResourceCompile:
12>  All outputs are up-to-date.
12>LINK : fatal error LNK1104: cannot open file '..\lib\pcl_visualization_debug.lib'
9>  All outputs are up-to-date.
9>LINK : fatal error LNK1104: cannot open file '..\lib\pcl_visualization_debug.lib'

9>Build FAILED.

I also replace the kinfu folder in head trunk with trunk(5421), the result is same: the 3D viewer remains no response.

Dr. Radu, would you mind to fix the problem in head trunk so that I could check if Kinfu has some real time ability for 3d scanning?

It works fine under Linux, so I guess the problem is about cmake configuration or dependencies.
Please post the complete build log (using http://pastebin.com/ and send the url here).

Any developer can fix the kinfu_app? Alough the console reports nearly ~20fps, the reconstruction result is not updated (it just remains uchanged all the time after the first 3d result).

I am waiting two days here for some developer to fix this problem so that I can evaluate if the kinfu_app is realtime as the video.
