header

john-2067
hi all,
Working on the ply file of the mountain and stuck in conversion from ply to pcd So is there any other way to convert ply to pcd?
What type of header should be used with the ply file so that it work with pcl 1.6.0?

thanks

Re: header

Hi,

if I remember well, in PCL 1.6 there is a bug when including the file ply_io.h.
Some include paths are mispelled. You should change the includes in ply_io.h, ply.h and ply_parser.h to the right paths (check the right locations of the files within the folders).

Cheers,
Matteo

Re: header

Matteo Munaro

Hi,

I realized that the problem I was referring to was a bug in pcl_ros 1.5, but if you are using pcl 1.6 that should work fine.

Can you please give more details about what is not working for you?
Have you tried to load ply files with pcl::io::loadPLYFile and save them to pcd with pcl::io::savePCDFile?

Cheers,
Matteo

Re: header

Matteo Munaro
The header to include should be ply_io.h.

Re: header

This post has NOT been accepted by the mailing list yet.
Hi

It will sound dumb but i just solve it, i used to have the same problem and the only thing i did to solve it was openning the .ply file in an editor (geany or nano or whatever) and save it, after doing this i was able to open the file without any problems.

What i think is happening is that the .ply files when created are missing some cut line "\n" at the end of each line, then when you use another editor and save it all the lines are saved with its corresponding cut line "\n" at the end.
