Visualizer displaying questions

NostrAdamus
Hi everybody!

I have question regarding point cloud visualization. Point cloud is
rather big, more than 10 millions of points. Visualizer is working fine
embedded in QT widget, but when I try to rotate/pan/zoom my view, when I
push mouse button or rotate wheel my cloud disappears for that instance
and I can see only boundary box. When I release a button point cloud
reappears back. It is very uncomfortable, to navigate when it works as
that. With small point clouds it works OK. I can see whole point cloud
while manipulating my view.

Sometimes - very rarely it beehives with big PC as I hoped it would
work. That means when I push mouse button, point cloud looses its
density to some degree on my viewer and I can manipulate my view seeing
such decimated PC. When I release mouse button, again I can see full PC
on my view. I don't know how reproduce this behavior it is pure luck,
but mostly it is only boundary box.

So most times if it is small or medium PC I can see all of it during
view manipulation, when it is big it goes all the way back to boundary
box, and I would like to stop somewhere between these two stages.

Is there any way to stop visualizer to go all the way back to boundary
box while manipulating my view and display decimated PC so I can see it?

Thanks in advance for your help

One way would be to explicitly decimating your point cloud for visualization purposes. The other is to fully understand how image refreshing works when your using interactors and that will involve digging through the source. Probably not the type of effort you’re looking to have at this point.

Re: Visualizer displaying questions

Thanks for suggestions.
I was thinking of creating second decimated cloud, like 10% of original to switch it while view manipulating, but i hoped that is some neater dynamic "build in" solution for that. I have to check how efficient this switching could be, so I don't have sudden  "stops" before and after view manipulations during cloud switch. This may be some kind of workaround, for this moment, but I feel I will have to go along your second suggestion in the long run if there is no easer way to control amount of displayed points.
