Dear all;


Recently, I combined both  PCL and CGAL libraries by CMake to design and implementation for 3D surface reconstruction from the RGB-D 3D cloud PLY data. Initially, I downsampled large source data by using voxel grid filter and convert processed POINTS into Polyhedral by CGAL routines. However, I attached my output for a particular data set. Now my question is that I have faced is how to downsampled the data with minimum loss of any salient features from point data? I  notice that that voxel grid filter somehow  loses relevant information,

I have a pointcloud which is nearly cylindrical. I need to find out which
points are visible from a sensor located at origin(0,0,0). Can I use ray
tracing for this purpose?

No. The probability of your rays hitting your 3D points is zero. Raytracing works for meshes, not pointclouds.

I actually have a mesh(ply format). Now what are my options? Can I use
VoxelGridOcclusionEstimation? How do I set the camera location. The
VoxelGridOcclusionEstimation has sensor_orientation and sensor_origin. But
How do I set them as they are private.

I just solved the problem by switching two code lines whereas I defined the
point clouds...
