Problems with pcl / openni under Ubuntu 14.04

Got openni set up under Ubuntu 14.04 (64 bit).  The default package
install didn't work but thankfully I was able to get it compiled using
the instructions here:

   https://bitbucket.org/samirmenon/scl-manips-v2/wiki/vision/kinect

When I run NiViewer I get what I would expect, the rgb and depth images
(attached).

When I run pcl_iopenni_viewer, however, I only get the rgb values. The
depth data seems to be all zero / black (also attached). Wondering if
I'm doing something wrong or if there is a keystroke needed with
pcl_openni_viewer to grab the actual pointcloud.

I installed pcl via:

   sudo add-apt-repository ppa:v-launchpad-jochen-sprickerhof-de/pcl
   sudo apt-get update
   sudo apt-get install libpcl-all

And my Xbox 360 Kinect device shows up as:

   Bus 003 Device 007: ID 045e:02ae Microsoft Corp. Xbox NUI Camera
   Bus 003 Device 006: ID 045e:02ad Microsoft Corp. Xbox NUI Audio
   Bus 003 Device 004: ID 045e:02c2 Microsoft Corp.

via lsusb.

Can you try pressing "R" in the visualizer window when the focus is in that window (just click in the window to get the focus on it).

It resets the viewer camera pose, sometimes you don't see anything just because you're not looking the right way, move the camera with Click+Mouse :)

If that doesn't work; please try these instructions for compiling OpenNI on your machine:

It uses slightly different versions of OpenNI and SensorKinect.
