Have to kill XnSensorServer every time I use PCL.

Tianli Yu
Hi,

I am trying the sample apps in PCL. The problem is that I can run any app only once. Then I have to killl XnSensorServer (sometimes more than once) before I can start running that app again. If I don't kill XnSensorServer I will got some exceptions and the app won't start. Is there any solution for that? I am running PCL on Ubuntu 11.10

Thanks!

Tianli.

Does your app doesn't close properly?

OK, it only happens when I use the OpenNI library that is compiled from the source. It works fine with the openni-dev comes with Ubuntu repository. Do you have any idea why? The reason I want to use the source is because I want to modify a line in OpenNI lib so that I can control the kinect motor.

Thanks!

We have reported a bug to PrimeSense, but I think it hasn't been fixed yet as far as I know.

Ziv and Eddie (CC-ed) might be able to offer more information. Alternatively you can fire a bug report on openni-dev@.
PCL hasn't upgraded its packages to the latest OpenNI and that's why our binary installers / DEBs work. However, in the
current version, using multiple Kinect/PrimeSense sensor at once results in corrupted RGB data :(

Cheers,
Radu.

Thanks Radu! I hope OpenNI support can be as responsive as you. Do you know where can I get the source of the OpenNI version that PCL is currently using?

Wow we haven't updated OpenNI / Sensor in a long time.

I'm going to upload the latest build we have tomorrow, I already finished all the preparations.

It contains *LOTS* of bug fixes from the past 6 months.

Stay tuned...

Ziv.

The new version (OpenNI-1.5.4.0, Sensor-5.1.2.1) is up under the unstable branch.

Please let me know if things are better or worse :-)

Does this version compatible with current PCL? I updated to the unstable version of Openni, but kinfu_app reports "can't opencv depth source". Any idea?

Thanks!

hi, a trivial query. could you please point out where is the unstable branch. i only see the main trunk and under branches there is no directory named unstable. also in trunk 3rd party openni, only a makefile exists.

thanks
