I am currently working on a project using the Intel RealSense combined with PCL. I spent two days installing everything but now it is up and running.
My objective is to scan an object in 3D and put it in Unity. Unfortunately, my program exports the scanned object as a .ply format with color. But this format is not compatible with Unity. My program in unity loads an .obj and .png (texture UV).
Converting from. ply to .obj is pretty easy. But, I have been spending a lot of time trying to figure out a way to create my texture map, but I can't find anything. All I can find is just people saying to use MeshLab or other software, but I cannot do that, I want to do it directly in my program.
I found some references about textures in PCL, but I can't seem to find anything that could generate the texture map for me. I looked for examples but couldn't find any. And most of them don't take the RGB information in the ply to create a texture map. The kind of texture I want to generate is like the one attached. It is from an apple scan I could find online, and this properly works in Unity.
